If a minor in California takes a assisted-opening pocket knife, with a blade length over two inches, to a blade smith/blacksmith and asks him/her to sharpen the knife, is it illegal? The law says that it is illegal to carry a pocket knife over two inches if it is open or in any way that makes it easier to take out and attack. BUT, if it was closed, then it’s legal. So, could a minor take the pocket knife and get it sharpened by a professional?
